Why learn how to spot liars?
In a study by Robert Feldman of University of Massachusetts, it was revealed that many people lie in everyday conversation. It was found that 60% of the participants lied at least once during a 10-minute conversation with a stranger, telling an anverage of 2-3 lies.

This is the hard truth, everyone, at some point in our lives would have told a lie, even as a toddler. Toddlers would start off with fake cries and slowly evolve.
Introduction
Why we lie
In general, we lie to obtain protection which can come in many forms.
Ourselves. In this case, we lie to avoid suffering painful consequences, shame, embarrassment, or conflict
Our personal interests. The next most common reason we lie is to obatin what we desire. We lie to get material goods (like money) and non-material goods (like attention).
Our image. It is common these days to be worried about what others think about ourselves, thus we do things to impress others. This would include acting smart in front of people.
Our resources. We often lie to avoid wasting either time or energy doing something we do not wish to do. For example, you do not wish to go out with a freind you dislike so you lie that you are busy. People do so as they feel uncomfortable admitting.
Others. These lies would be considered as white lies. When asked if we like something like a drawing, we often lie to protect our friends' and family's feelings. These lies made to make them feel better.
LYING IS ABOUT THE IMMEDIATE BENEFITS
What is lie detection? Our argument, stress detection.
It is hard to lie as our brain is hard wired to tell the truth. When you tell a lie, your stress response is heightened. These stress responses will present themselves as non-verbal cues.
