Why Lies Fail

 

Lies fail for various reasons. The liar may accidentally leak evidences of lying or someone else may betray the deceiver. These deception clues or leakage can be shown in many ways:

 

1. A change of a expression on the face

2. A movement of the body

3. An inflection to the voice

4. A swallowing in the throat

5. A very deep or shallow breath

6. Long pauses between words

7. A slip of the tongue

8. A micro facial expression

9. A gestural slip

 

Although liars can rarely prevent these behavioural betrayals, but some can perform a lie flawlessly. This is why we should never assume to uncover every single lie. However, there are two reasons why most liars betray themselves, one involves thinking and one involves feelings.
